American’s love celebrating their country’s birthday. And there’s no better way to celebrate it than shooting off some fireworks, grilling some scrumptious meals with friends and family, and having a few tasty beverages at your local watering hole. Here are 5 patriotic-inspired cocktails to serve your customers this year.
1. Red, White, and Blue Pina Colada
This drink is guaranteed to remind you of summertime. With its fresh flavors and patriotic look, it is sure to be a hit with any bar goer.
Recipe: 6 oz frozen strawberries, 2 tbs white rum, 2 cup crushed ice, 1/2 c coconut cream, 1/2 c Blue Curaçao, 1/2 c crushed pineapple, 1/4 c white rum. Add ice, coconut cream, and blue curacao to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour contents into tall daiquiri glass. Blend strawberry mixture, then add it to the glass. Top with whipped cream.
2. All-American Daiquiri
This is a thick, creamy cocktail with a bright color and all-American style. Be sure to have extra mason jars in stock.
Recipe: 2.25 oz Wild Shot Silver Mezcal, 1 oz Coconut Rum, .25 oz Triple Sec, .25 oz Pineapple Juice, 1 cup Piña Colada Mix, 1 cup Strawberry Daiquiri Mix, 1.25 cups Crushed Ice. In a blender with ice add Wild Shot Silver, Malibu Rum, Triple Sec, pineapple juice and piña colada mix. Blend until thick. Pour half of blender in separate glass, then add Strawberry Daiquiri Mix to blender. Blend until mixed and pour blended strawberry mix into mason jar. Add the separate glass of blended product to the mason jar.
3. All-American Gin and Tonic
Juice up your traditional gin and tonic with this simple, colorful recipe.
Recipe: Pour 2 oz. Bluecoat American Dry Gin over ice, add blueberries and raspberries, top off with tonic water, then sit back and enjoy the fireworks.
The Not-So-Red-White-And-Blue but Still Patriotic:
4. Whiskey Sour
I understand this one is not red, white, and blue in color. However, this is an all-American drink. Also, it can easily be batched, making it a great time-saver for your bar staff.
Recipe: 1 1⁄2 oz Kentucky Bourbon, 3⁄4 oz Fresh lemon juice, 3⁄4 oz Simple syrup (1 part water, 1 part sugar). Add ingredients to a shaker, fill with ice and shake. Strain into rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a cherry or lemon wedge.
5. Bacon Cherry Creek
Give yourself at least two days of prep time to ensure you get all of the bacon flavor into the bourbon used in this drink. However, once this drink hits the menu, it will be hard to keep in stock. This one again isn’t red, white, and blue but nobody will be complaining when they get a taste.
Recipe: 2 oz bacon-washed Knob Creek Bourbon Whiskey (4 strips of cooked bacon in a mason jar of Knob Creek bourbon chilled for two days), 3/4 oz Liquid Muse Cherry-Cinnamon Syrup (recipe), 1/2 oz ruby port. Add all of the ingredients to a mixing glass filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist expressed over the cocktail then dropped into the drink.
